View and Update Authorities

If you are a prescriber, you can view all of your monitored medicine authorities, read related correspondence, and click through to the related patient profile.

View your authorities

  1. From the navigation menu, select Authorities.

  2. (If required) Filter by Date Range.

    By default, only the most recent 3 months of authorities are visible. Expand the date range using the options, if required.

  3. (If required) Apply additional filters to each column header.

    My Authorities displays all of your authorities. By default, the most recently updated authorities are at the top of the list.

    The medicines selected by the Regulator are shown in the Medicines column.

  4. Click to open an existing Authority and take the appropriate Action.

    Depending on the Status of the Authority, you will see certain information about the medicines.

    If the Status is... You will see...
    Submitted Read-only list of medicines that you applied for.
    In-progress Read-only list of medicines that you applied for. If the regulator has added dosages, this will display also.
    Waiting for Information Editable list of medicines.
    Approved The authority medicines as approved by the regulators. These authority medicines are also listed in the correspondence letter.
  5. If the authority cannot be found, you can select Apply for Authority, and select the relevant authority type:

Request an amendment

  1. From My Authorities, search for the relevant authority, with Status set to Approved.

  2. Open the authority.

  3. Click Amend Authority.

    The Confirm Amend Authority popup displays.

  4. Select one or more check boxes for your reasons for the amendment. If you select Other, you need to enter text in the Other Reason text box.

  5. Click Yes.

    The following message displays:

    Your application has been saved as pending & is not submitted.

    To complete the application, you must make updates to the pending authority before you can Submit it. To update, continue with the steps below.

  6. In Medicines, turn on the Are changes to medicines being requested toggle. Here you can amend directions, add new medicines, remove current medicines etc.

    The Dose, Unit of measure, Formulation, and Frequency are read-only. These fields are populated by the regulator during the review process.

    If you can't find the medicine you are looking for, then fill in the details in the Enter the drug name, dose and directions field.

  7. In Correspondence, upload additional documents, if required.

  8. When all the amendments have been completed, click Submit Authority.

    The Submit button is disabled by default. You must make updates to the pending authority before you can Submit it.

    If all required inputs are present and valid, the amendment request is saved and displays in My Authorities as Submitted with purpose of Amend. The version number is incremented.

Request a renewal

  1. From My Authorities, search for the relevant authority, with Status set to Approved.

  2. Open the authority.

  3. Click Renew Authority.

  4. If you are renewing a MATOD Authority, you will be prompted to provide additional information. Enter the requested information and click Yes.

  5. If required, in Medicines, make any changes to medicines.

    Turn on the Are changes to medicines being requested toggle and then enter the changes to directions for use, add new medicines or remove current medicines etc.

    The Dose, Unit of measure, Formulation, and Frequency are read-only. These fields are populated by the regulator during the review process.

  6. If you need to add a medicine, but you can't find the medicine you are looking for, then you can fill in the details in the Enter the drug name, dose and directions field.

  7. In Correspondence, upload additional documents, if required.

  8. Click Submit Authority.

    The Submit button is enabled by default. You are not required to make updates on a renewal before you click Submit Authority.

    If all required inputs are present and valid, the request for renewal is saved and displays in My Authorities as Submitted with the purpose of Renew. The version number is incremented.

Submit requested information

  1. From My Authorities, search for the relevant authority, with Status set to Waiting for additional information.

  2. Open the authority.

    All enabled fields can be edited, as required.

  3. If you need to add a medicine, but you can't find the medicine you are looking for, then you can fill in the details in the Enter the drug name, dose and directions... field.

  4. In Correspondence, upload additional documents, if required.

  5. When you have finished updating the application, click Submit Authority.

    If all required inputs are present and valid, ScriptCheckSA creates a new version of the authority with the status of In Progress.

Cancel an authority

Practitioners can submit a cancellation when authorities are no longer required. Practitioners can cancel an authority when the authority status is Pending, Submitted, Waiting for additional information, In progress or Approved.

To cancel an authority:

  1. Click Cancel Authority.

  2. In the Confirm Cancel Authority popup, select the reason for cancelling the authority.

    If you select Other, you need to enter a reason in Other Reason.

  3. Click Yes.

Once the cancellation has been submitted, these authorities display in My Authorities with their Status set to Cancelled.

Authorities that have been Expired, Revoked or Refused can still be accessed by practitioners from My Authorities
